I want to sincerely thank all the voters in wards 5 and 7 who trusted me as your YRDSB Public School Trustee. I am deeply humbled and thankful for the opportunity. I look forward to serving you in this new term of 2026-2030.
As we head into the municipal election this October, you may notice that my election sign woods are painted in yellow and blue. I chose these colours to raise awareness and remind our community that, while we are fortunate to exercise our democratic rights peacefully, people in many parts of the world are still fighting to protect their freedom, democracy, and way of life. To me, yellow and blue represent courage, resilience, hope, and the determination to stand up for freedom and democracy. I believe we should never take these values for granted and that we have a responsibility to appreciate, protect, and pass them on to the next generation.
As candidates, we have an opportunity to champion more than our own campaigns. This is an opportunity to raise awareness of a cause that matters deeply to us; awareness of elevating education, seniors, mental health, community safety, and the environment, this is the moment to use our platform to raise awareness. Elections are a chance to inspire meaningful conversations and make our communities stronger!
This is why, this year, I choose to raise awareness about the awesome work of the Young Caregivers Association. They support young people caring for family members, providing resources, understanding, and opportunities to connect, learn, and thrive.
Markham Wards 5 and 7 are vibrant, growing, and wonderfully diverse communities, home to more than 12,300 students across 18 York Region District School Board schools. Families from various cultural backgrounds call these communities home. This diversity is one of our greatest strengths, bringing different languages, traditions, experiences, and perspectives into our schools. As a School Trustee, I am committed to ensuring every student has a safe, supportive, and enriching learning environment, while building stronger partnerships among parents, educators, community organizations, and local leaders to create more opportunities for our children to succeed.
